In 2003, Memphis Stone and Gravel hosted a field trip for the Bartlett-Wolfchase Area Home School Association at its North Plant operation in Arlington, TN. Over 35 people were given an overview of the mining cycle and a plant tour. The tour emphasized site's reclamation at its Deadfall Road and Duke properties. Memphis Stone and Gravel Company has been mining in this area since the 1960's. Much of the major highways on the north side of Shelby County has been constructed with aggregate from this operation, including Hwy 14, Hwy 70, Interstate 40 and most recently Hwy 385.
