On September 27, 2008, Memphis Stone and Gravel Company (MSG) had members of the Memphis Archaeological and Geological Society and the Mississippi Gem and Mineral Club visit several sites to collects rocks, fossils, and minerals. Gravels are mined from terrace deposits of the Upland Complex. You may find agate, petrified wood, geodes, quartz pebbles, and a variety of fossils of Mississippian, Devonian, and Silurian age. Approximately 30 participated in the field trip.
