In the fall of 2001, Memphis Stone and Gravel Company conducted a joint field trip with its sister company Lehman-Roberts Company for the Civil Engineering Dept. at the University of Mississippi.  The tour included a trip to Lehman-Roberts company's Plant 5 asphalt plant and laboratory and Memphis Stone and Gravel Company's Anderson Plant.  Over fifty students and faculty members got to observe the importance of quality control with respect to aggregate and asphalt concrete production. Getting to tour the active pit provided a unique experience to see the local geology.
