After 20 years of distinguished service to Memphis Stone & Gravel, a Granite Company, we are proud to celebrate the career and retirement of Dave Leverett, Director of Land Management. Dave‘s work in mine planning, environmental compliance, inventory management, and budgeting helped keep operations running smoothly and positioned for the future.
Dave’s career in the mining industry spans an impressive four decades, with roughly half of that time spent supporting our teams here at Memphis Stone & Gravel (MSG). Eddie Ragsdale, Director of Production, shared, “Dave has been a major player in mine site planning, working with environmental agencies, keeping material inventories accurate, and helping with budgets. It has been an absolute pleasure working with Dave.”
Alan Parks, Vice President of Memphis Stone & Gravel, reflected on both his experience and character, saying, “Dave certainly has the [knowledge of his craft] that such a long career in the industry builds, but it was his adaptability and genuine positive outlook that made him such a great teammate. We all have people in our lives that we just look forward to seeing and talking with, and that’s Dave. We will miss his presence here, but I am very happy for him and his wife, Kathy, as they pass this milestone together.”
Dave’s positive attitude and mentorship left a lasting mark not just across his team but also across the entire organization. Scott Jefferies, Assistant Superintendent, added, “Dave was a great team member here at MSG. He always was a great person to work with. If he ever had a bad day, I don’t think I saw it. Always happy-go-lucky, with a smile on his face, and a great mentor to us all. He will be missed.”
He also helped strengthen community connections by hosting field trips for local schools and extracurricular groups, giving students the opportunity to tour plant sites, learn about careers, and explore the mining cycle. As Taylor McPherson, Director of Communication and Engagement, noted, Dave was heavily involved in bringing students and community groups onsite to learn more about the industry.
Dave’s influence was also personal for many team members. Corbin Moore, Director of Exploration and Planning, closed by sharing, “Dave will truly be missed, along with his fun-loving attitude, knowledge, and expertise that he brought every single day. I will always be grateful to Dave since he recruited me to work here, as well as the mentoring he provided to me personally over the years. I wish him nothing but the best in his retirement.”
As Dave begins this next chapter, we thank him for 20 years of leadership, mentorship, and service. Congratulations, Dave. We wish you a happy and well-deserved retirement!
